Hariom Panwar possesses a voice that can literally shake a stadium. Born in 1949 in the Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh, he serves as a living monument to the Veer Rasa or heroic poetry tradition in contemporary Hindi literature.
While many modern poets moved toward introspection or quiet social commentary, Panwar kept the roaring fire of patriotic verse alive. For decades, he has been an undisputed titan of the Kavi Sammelan stage, reading poems that address national security, the sacrifices of soldiers on the borders, and the political handling of Kashmir.
He writes with fierce, uncompromising nationalism, yet his command over rhythm and phrasing ensures his poetry never devolves into mere sloganeering. He works as a professor of law, bringing analytical rigor to his fiery verses.
Panwar proves that the oral tradition of Hindi poetry still holds the immense power to awaken the collective conscience and bring millions of listeners to their feet.
