पड़ोसिनों से जले कचरा फेंकने को लेकर लड़े
घर से तो ख़ैर निकलने का सवाल ही नहीं उठता औरतों को जो चाहिए घर ही में है
एक महाभारत है एक रामायण है तुलसीदास की भी राधेश्याम की भी एक नागिन की स्टोरी बमय गाने और एक खारी बावली में छपा कोकशास्त्र एक खूसट महरिन है परपंच के लिए एक अधेड़ खसम है जिसके प्राण अकच्छ किये जा सकें एक गुचकुलिया-सा आँगन कई कमरे कुठरिया एक के अंदर एक बिस्तरों पर चीकट तकिए कुरसियों पर गौंजे हुए उतारे कपड़े फ़र्श पर ढंनगते गिलास खूंटियों पर कुचैली चादरें जो कुएँ पर ले जाकर फींची जाएँगी
घर में सबकुछ है जो औरतों को चाहिए सीलन भी और अंदर की कोठरी में पाँच सेर सोना भी और संतान भी जिसका जिगर बढ गया है जिसे वह मासिक पत्रिकाओं पर हगाया करती है और ज़मीन भी जिस पर हिंदी भवन बनेगा
कहनेवाले चाहे कुछ कहें हमारी हिंदी सुहागिन है सती है खुश है उसकी साध यही है कि खसम से पहले मरे और तो सब ठीक है पर पहले खसम उससे बचे तब तो वह अपनी साध पूरी करे ।

A Pathare Prabhu Wedding Ceremony
In this magnificent watercolour, Mahadev Vishwanath Dhurandhar provides a rare and deeply personal glimpse into the traditions of his own Pathare Prabhu community. Created in 1944, the very year of the artist's passing, the painting serves as a final, loving tribute to the cultural fabric of old Bombay. Dhurandhar was a master of the Academic Realism taught at the Sir J.J. School of Art, yet here he transcends mere technical precision to capture the lived emotion of a wedding. Every figure is rendered with individual dignity, from the elders in their traditional red turbans to the women draped in lustrous silk sarees, each detail reflecting the unique social standing and heritage of the community. It is an invitation to witness a sacred transition, recorded by a man who understood these rituals not just as a painter, but as a devoted member of the family gathered there.
