Sare Sikandar Ghar Lautne Se Pehle Hi Mar Jate Hain
Geet Chaturvedi4 verses · ~2 min

Geet Chaturvedi
1977 · 2010
Geet Chaturvedi is widely regarded as one of the most brilliant and aesthetically ambitious voices of twenty first century Hindi literature. Born in 1977 in Mumbai and spending much of his creative life in Bhopal, he moves fluidly across poetry, fiction, and profound critical essays. His writing addresses the intense urban isolation, existential anxieties, and fragmented memories of the modern individual. Chaturvedi writes with a deeply cinematic and visual vocabulary. His celebrated poetry collections like Aalaap Mein Girah and Minimum Main capture the profound melancholies of contemporary life without ever losing their lyrical beauty. Awarded the prestigious Bharat Bhushan Agarwal Award, his work has been translated into numerous international languages, proving the global resonance of his themes. He demands complete intellectual engagement from his readers. He represents a generation of writers who confidently place Hindi literature in direct conversation with global literary movements while remaining firmly rooted in Indian realities.

Sakuntala Leaving for the Palace of King Dushyanta
This poignant scene captures a pivotal moment from the timeless epic, the Mahabharata, as immortalized by Kalidasa in his play, Abhijnanashakuntalam. We witness the young Sakuntala, accompanied by her guardians, as she ventures toward the court of King Dushyanta. The weight of destiny hangs heavy in the air, and her expression holds a delicate mix of maidenly shyness, vulnerability, and the solemnity of a future queen stepping into an uncertain reality. Raja Ravi Varma, with his mastery of Western realism blended with Indian sensibilities, brings this mythological encounter to life, grounding the divine narrative in an evocative, earthy forest landscape that mirrors the emotional depth of the protagonist.
