King Shantanu Meets Ganga and Devavrata

This touching artwork captures a pivotal, tender moment from the Mahabharata along the sacred banks of the Ganges. King Shantanu stands on the dry earth, gesturing with deep reverence and wonder as he encounters the celestial river goddess Ganga, who rises gracefully from the water with cascading hair and luxurious garments. Standing between them is their extraordinary son Devavrata, later known as the venerable Bhishma, clad in armor and bearing a bow, embodying both divine grace and heroic martial destiny. The artist masterfully translates this legendary familial reunion into a visual language of profound devotion, blending academic realism with the emotional warmth of traditional Indian storytelling.
