मौन, मैं अनजान फिर बोलो कहाँ आवास मेरा!
जिन्दगी की राह रुकने को नहीं विश्राम-बेला, आज है यदि साथ लेकिन कल कहीं रहना अकेला! राह में इस भाँति कितने सुहृद् छूटे, बन्धु छूटे, भार उर पर रह गया सम्बन्ध के सब तार टूटे! स्मृतियाँ अनगिन बनी रह जायँगी उर भार मेरा!
कामना छलना जहाँ औ' शब्द भी हों जाल केवल, भावना अभिनय बने, लेकर बढूँ मैं कौन संबल! पर न मैं प्रतिबन्ध कोई भी लगाना चाहती हूँ, इसी क्रम में, मित्रवत्, तुमको समाना चाहती हूँ! इन्हीं दो परिचय क्षणों के छोर पर अभियान मेरा!
इस अकेली यात्रा में राग से वैराग्य तक की, मैं बनी बेमेल, मेले में अनेकों बार भटकी, उसी स्नेहिल दृष्टि का अभिषेक चलती बार पा लूँ, कर्ण-कुहरों मे गहन, आश्वस्ति देते स्वर समा लूँ क्या पता अनिकेत मन लेगा कहाँ जाकर बसेरा!
दूर हूँ पर पास हूँ मैं, पास हूँ पर दूर भी हूँ , एक परिचय हूँ सभी की, दो दिनों की मीत भी हूँ, चल रही, पाथेय लेकर, जगत की जीवन व्यथा का, फिर नया अध्याय रचने के लिये अपनी कथा का, मुक्त पंछी मैं जहाँ रह लूँ वहीं पर नीड़ मेरा!
यह थकन पथ की, विसंगतियों भरी जीवन -कथा यह, अनवरत यह यात्रा, अनुतप्त भटकाती व्यथा यह! कर्म जो कर्तव्य, मैं चुपचाप करती जा रही हूँ, जगत के अन्तर्विरोधों से गुज़रती जा रही हूँ! यहाँ कुछ अपना न था, क्या नकद और उधार मेरा!
रखा जाता यहाँ पर पूरा हिसाब-किताब पल-छिन, कर लिया तैयार कागज, बाद में दीं साँस गिन-गिन! अब अगर लिखवार ने पूछा कहूँगी - 'खुद समझ लो! प्रश्न मुझसे क्यों, अरे, लिक्खा तुम्हीं ने, तुम्हीं पढ लो; निभा दी वह भूमिका, जिस पर लिखा था नाम मेरा!' कहाँ मेरा जन्म था होगा कहाँ अवसान मेरा
