तुम काग़ज़ पर लिखते हो वह सड़क झाड़ता है तुम व्यापारी वह धरती में बीज गाड़ता है । एक आदमी घड़ी बनाता एक बनाता चप्पल इसीलिए यह बड़ा और वह छोटा इसमें क्या बल ।
सूत कातते थे गाँधी जी कपड़ा बुनते थे , और कपास जुलाहों के जैसा ही धुनते थे चुनते थे अनाज के कंकर चक्की पीसते थे आश्रम के अनाज याने आश्रम में पिसते थे जिल्द बाँध लेना पुस्तक की उनको आता था भंगी-काम सफाई से नित करना भाता था । ऐसे थे गाँधी जी ऐसा था उनका आश्रम गाँधी जी के लेखे पूजा के समान था श्रम ।
एक बार उत्साह-ग्रस्त कोई वकील साहब जब पहुँचे मिलने बापूजी पीस रहे थे तब । बापूजी ने कहा - बैठिये पीसेंगे मिलकर जब वे झिझके गाँधीजी ने कहा और खिलकर सेवा का हर काम हमारा ईश्वर है भाई बैठ गये वे दबसट में पर अक्ल नहीं आई ।
