आँख,कान और मुँह बंद किये, बचते-भागते आ बैठे ड्राइँग रूम के अन्दर, ये तीन बन्दर!
बैठे रहेंगे - निश्चिन्त,आदर्श,परम अहिंसावादी, यथार्थ से आँखें मूँदे ,महात्मा बने, कि हम नहीं ऐसे सारी दुनिया रहे चाहे जैसे! बुराइयों से आँखें मूँद , एकदम चुप रहो, बंद रखो कान , जो रहा है होने दो , हमें क्या?
फैलती रहें अनीतियाँ ,अमर बेल की तरह छल्ले फँसाती शाखा-प्रशाखाओं में बिना किसी अवरोध के! सच के कँटीले रास्ते से भाग , यहाँ बैठे रहें ,अंध, मूक,बधिर बने, गज़ब का संयम ओढ़े , सबसे तटस्थ,निर्लिप्त! इस कमरे के अंदर; परम संत बने आत्ममुग्ध , ये तीन बंदर!
युग की महागाथा मे लिखे होंगे सबसे ऊपर इनके नाम , हथियार छोड़ भागनेवालों में! क्योंकि इस देश और इस काल में सर्वग्रासी मि्थ्यादर्शों के बीच , परम संतोष से जिये जा रहे हैं आँख,कान और मुँह बंद कर , ये तीन बंदर!
