कुछ लगा ऐसा कि लम्बी हो गई है रात! और रुक सी गई, तारों की चढी बारात . धीमी पड़ गई चलती हुई हर साँस, सूरज देर से निकला!
घड़ी धीरे चल रही, कुछ सोचता सा काल धर रहा है धरा पर हर पग सम्हाल-सम्हाल! बँधा किसकी बाँह में आकाश, सूरज देर से निकला!
अर्ध-निद्रा या कि सपनों की कुहक- माया नेह-भीगे मृदुल स्वर लोरी सुनाते थे, अनसुने से गीत रह-रह गूँज जाते थे! हर नियम अलसा गया है आज, सूरज देर से निकला!
देर तक अपना मुझे टेरा किया कोई! लगा सारी रात मैं बिल्कुल नहीं सोई! फिर कुहासा दृष्टि को बाँधे रहा ऐसा, कि सूरज देर से निकला!
