ससुरारै में निदिया सताये रे, जी भर के कबहुँ ना सोय पाय रे मोरी अक्कल चरै का चलि जात हौ, ससुरारै में बावरी सी हुइ गई!

सैंया बोले गैया को चारा डालना, मैं भइया सुन्यो निंदिया की झोंक में, छोटे देउर को नाँद में बिठा दियो, और आय के बिछावन पे सोय गई!

बहू बछिया गुवाले को सौंप दे, मैं बिटिया सुन्यो निंदिया की झोंक में, तो ननदिया को पहना-उढ़ाय के, आपने कंठ से लगाय मिल-भेंट ली, और जाय के गुवाले को दे दिहिन! फिर आय के बिछावन पे सोय गई!

मैरी दवा की पुड़िया बहू लाय दे, हवा-गुड़िया सुन्यो नींद के खुमार में! लाई रबड़ की बबुइया ढूँढ खोज के, आगे बढ़ के ससुर जी पे उछाल दी, और आय के बिछावन पे सोय गई!

पहने कपड़े बरैठिन के दै दियो, कह दीजो हिसाब पूरो हुइ गयो! गहने कपड़े सुन्यो मैं आधी नींद में, उनके बक्से से जेवर निकाल लै, और जोड़े धराऊ में लपेट के धुबिनिया को पुटलिया पकड़ाय दी और लेट के बिछावन पे सोय गई!

हँडिया दूध की अँगीठी पे चढ़ाय दे, थोड़ो ईंधन दै के आँच भी बढ़ाय दे, चार मुट्ठी भर झोंक दियो कोयला, हाँडी गोरस की धरी वापे ढाँक के और आ के बिछावन पे सोय गई!

जाने कैसे मैं लेटी औंघाय गई, दूध उबल-उबल सारा जराय गा, सारा हाँडी का रंग करियाय गा! मैंने टंकी में चुपके डुबाय दी, और जाके बिछावन पे सोय गई!

मारे नींद के कुछू न समझ आय रे, ससुरारै मे बावली सी होय रई!
