कल्पनामय आज तो जीवन बना, पर जिन्दगीमय कल्पना हो क्या कभी ऐसा न होगा! एक पग आगे बढा तो शूल पथ के मुसकराये, एक क्षण पलगें खुलीं तो हो गये सपने पराये, एक ही मुस्कान ने सौ आँसुओं का नीर माँगा, एक ही पथ में समूचे विश्व के अभिशाप छाये! स्वप्नमय ही हो गई हैं आज सारी चेतनायें, चेतनामय स्वप्न हों ये, क्या कभी ऐसा न होगा!

एक बन्धन टूटने पर युग-युगों का व्यंग्य आया, एक दीपक के लिये तम का अपरिमित सिन्धु छाया, एक ही था चाँद नभ में किन्तु घटता ही रहा, जब तक न मावस का अँधेरा व्योम में घिर घोर आया! इसलिये मैं खोजती हूँ चैन जीवन की व्यथा में, वेदना ही शान्ति बन जाये कभी ऐसा न होगा!

चाह से है राह कितनी दूर भी मैने न पूछा, क्या कभी मँझधार को भी कूल मिलता है न बूझा, किन्तु गति ही बन गई बंधन स्वयं चंचल पगों में, छाँह देने को किसी ने एक क्षण को भी न रोका! ये भटकते ही रहे उद्भ्रान्त से मेरे चरण पर भ्रान्ति में ही बन चले पथ क्या कभी ऐसा न होगा!

अब कभी बरसात रोती कभी मधुऋतु मुस्कराती, कभी झरती आग नभ से या सिहरती शीत आती, सोचती हूँ अनमनी मैं बस यही क्रम जिन्दगी का, किन्तु मैं रुकने न पाती, किन्तु मैं जाने न पाती आज खो देना स्वयं को चाहती विस्मृति-लहर में भूल कर भी मैं स्वयं को पा सकूँ ऐसा न होगा!
