Shiva and Parvati Seated on Nandi
This intimate portrait captures the divine couple, Shiva and his consort Parvati, in a moment of quiet grace upon their trusted mount, Nandi. The work embodies the artistic synthesis of the Company School period, where traditional Indian iconography meets the illustrative precision valued by European patrons. Shiva is depicted with his iconic attributes, his form emanating a calm, cosmic authority, while Parvati radiates a terrestrial beauty that grounds their divine union. Together they traverse the world, representing the inseparable nature of consciousness and energy. It is a profound invitation to witness the sacred harmony that sustains the rhythm of existence.
