शताब्दियाँ फटक-पछोर कर सँवारती रहीं जिसे, युग-युगान्तर ठोंकते-बजाते परखते रहे, कसी जाती, निखरती रही निरंतर नये परिवेश के साथ, और लोकमन चंदन- सा माथे चढाये रहा, दिग्दिगन्त महक उठता जिस सुवास से, पाई है हमने जो धरोहर, - हमारी संस्कृति! अगली पीढ़ी को सौंपे बिना शान्ति कहाँ, मुक्ति कहाँ!
एक ही कथा है जिसके भन्न-भिन्न पात्र हैं हम। एक ही विरासत! और यहाँ भी सारा हिन्दुस्तान सिमट आया, धारे अपना वहीं वेष!
यहाँ भी - दुर्गा - लक्ष्मी और गणपति रुचिपूर्वक रचनेवाली, और समारोह पूर्वक विसर्जित करनेवाली अपने देश की माटी हर बरस जता जाती - जीवन-मृत्यु दो छोर हैं समभाव से ग्रहण करो! सृजन को जीवन का उल्लास और विसर्जन को उत्सव बनाना ही है -जीवन का मूल राग!
यहाँ की चकाचौंध जिसे भरमा ले दौड़ती भागती बिखरन ही उसके हाथ आई, तृप्ति तो मुझे कहीं नज़र नहीं आती। इस नई दुनिया की, आँखों को चौंधियाती चमक देखो, कितने दिन की पर सहस्राब्दियों की कसौटी पर कसी पुराने की अस्लियत अंततः सामने आ ही जाती है। पर जीवन का जो अंश वहाँ छोड़ आये उसकी कमी हममें से किसे नहीं सताती। कभी अकेले में, किसकी आँख नहीं भऱ आती।
जब यहाँ होती हूँ, अपना देश चारों ओर देख लेती हूँ, और वही दृष्टि इन सब आँखों में देख एक गहरा संतोष मन को आश्वस्ति से भर जाता है।
