अचानक लगा मैं हूँ , पर अपने से भिन्न! सब कुछ घूमता हुआ सारा बिगत, प्रत्यक्ष घटता हुआ! शुरू से आखीर तक का सफ़र त्वरित, गुज़र गया सामने से!
दर्शक मात्र रह गई अपनी ही यात्रा की! देख लिया , लगे हैं दाग़ मेरी चुनरी में! और निकट प्रस्थान की बेला!
क्षण-क्षण साक्षी मेरे, जीवन भर रगड़-रगड़ माँजते रहे तुम, नत-शिर ग्रहण करती रही, तुम्हारा अवदान, मन ही मन मनाते कि इतनी अशान्ति न व्याप जाये जो आपा खो उभ्रान्त हो उठूँ, बहक जाऊँ,बिखर जाऊँ अनजान दिशाओं में!
चूनर मेरी घिस गई , हो गई बेरंग जर्जर, ताने-बाने रहे बिखर, ऊपर से जमे हुये ये छींटे! जो पीर औरों ने झेली मेरे कारण, उड़-उड़ वही कण, मटमैला कर गये , ओढ़ कर आई थी जो स्वच्छ चूनर!
जाने-अनजाने जैसा भी, किया तो मैंने ही! शूल सा चुभ रहा अब! नहीं, क्षमा नहीं, कोई क्षमा नहीं! कर लेने दो निवारण! नहीं सहा जायेगा इतना बोझ , जन्म-जन्मान्तर झुका छोड़ जाये जो!
ओ रे ,घटवासी धो लेने दो जाने से पहले , दे दो , अवसर परिमार्जन का! नहीं तो कैसे करूँगी सामना! कहाँ टिकूँगी तुम्हारी उज्ज्वलता के आगे !
कोरे अश्रुजल से नहीं धुलेंगे ये दाग़, कर्मों का साबुन घिस-घिस , रगड़ने दो थोड़ा और! थोड़ा और मँज लेने दो , हो लेने दो निर्मल!
यह ओढी हुई चूनर उतार, रख जाऊँ यहीं! कि जब सामना हो तुमसे , मेरे अंतर्यामी, झेल सकूँ वह प्रखर तेज , सिर उठा कर देख सकूँ , वह स्नेहिल मुस्कान , और आत्मसात् कर सकूँ दिव्यता का अमृत प्रसाद!
