अपराध यूँ ही नहीं बढ़ता है हर बच्चा बूढ़ों की आँखों में अपराध की इबारत साफ़-साफ़ पढ़ता है।
वह इबारत पानी की तरह सतह पर हमें अपना चेहरा दिखती ऐ, और जहाँ भी गड्ढे देखती है ठहर-ठहर जाती है। उसमें एक बहाव है और एक खिंचाव भी।
यह इबारत हमारी कृतज्ञ है कि हम उसे मिटाते नहीं। क़ैदी की तरह कितना भी छटपटाएँ अपने को उसके घर से मुक्त कर पाते नहीं।
समय की शिला पर वरण-फूल नहीं अब यही इबारत लोहे की टाँकी से लिख दी गई है, ताकि जो भी इधर से गुज़रे शर्म से मरे या न मरे एक बार अपने को अफ़लातून ज़रूर अनुभव करे।
