समय में ही समय का बनकर रहूँ नींव रख दूँ या नए दिन की रात-दिन में फ़र्क कोई है कहाँ बस, उजाला बीच की दीवार था ढह गया जो अब खुला मैदान है

युगों से जो अँधेरे के पार था जागरण करती हुई नींदें यहाँ सुन रहीं हैं बात छिन-छिन की एक मेला जुटा है हर मोड़ पर एक ठो बाज़ार है हर गाँव में

आगमन अपना बताने के लिए बँधा बिछुआ बज रहा पाँव में क़ीमतों के बोल उठकर गिर रहे बिक रही है कोख बाघिन की गढ़ रही सच्चाइयाँ धोखा

और धोखे से मिले दो दिल दाँव-पेचों की कतरब्यौंतें हुईं बन गये हैं प्यार के काबिल जो नहीं बन सके वे बदनाम हैं रीति है यह प्रीति-पापिन की
