आज पहली बार मैंने, मौन की चादर बुनी है काट दो यदि काट पाओ तार कोई

एक युग से ज़िन्दगी के घोल को मैं एक मीठा विष समझ कर पी रहा हूँ आदमी घबरा न जाए मुश्क़िलों से इसलिए मुस्कान बनकर जी रहा हूँ

और यों अविराम गति से बढ़ रहा हूँ रुक न जाए राह में मन हार कोई

बहुत दिन पहले कभी जब रोशनी थी चाँदनी ने था मुझे तब भी बुलाया नाम चाहे जो इसे तुम आज दो पर कोश आँसुओं का नहीं मैंने लुटाया

तुम किनारे पर खड़े, आवाज़ मत दो खींचती मुझको इधर मँझधार कोई

एक झिलमिल-सा कवच जो देखते हो आवरण है यह उतारूँगा इसे भी जो अंधेरा दीपकों की आँख में है एक दिन मैं ही उजारूँगा उसे भी

यों प्रकाशित दिव्यता होगी हृदय की है न जिसके द्वार वन्दनवार कोई

नित्य ही होता हृदयगत भाव का संयत प्रकाशन किन्तु मैं अनुवाद कर पाता नहीं हूँ जो स्वयं ही हाथ से छूटे छिटककर उन क्षणों को याद कर पाता नहीं हूँ

यों लिए वीणा सदा फिरता रहा हूँ बाँध ले शायद तुम्हें झनकार कोई
