कभी उचककर क्षितिज चूमती कभी रसातल के पग छूती कितनी दूर अभी जाएगी अजगर-सी टेढ़ी-मेढ़ी मेरी पगडंडी!

वादी की सुरमई घाटियाँ गातीं लाजू झूम, कुसुम की घघरी पहने फाहोंवाली बर्फ़: ज़रीना ने पहने हैं अंग-अंग चांदी के गहने कभी तरेड़ी के कतले खा मुँह मटकाकर बंसी के काँटों में कभी गला अटकाकर कितने जंगल भटकाएगी अजगर-सी टेढ़ी-मेढ़ी मेरी पगडंडी!

छाया-आलोकों की यह शतरंज बिछी है झाड़ी के नीचे चट्टानों पर सोने की मूरतें खिलखिलाकर शरमायीं हाँजी के उन्मुक्त तरानों पर कभी झील के नीले पानी को उछालती थके दृगों में कभी सब्ज सपने सँवारती कितना आँचल फैलाएगी अजगर-सी टेढ़ी-मेढ़ी मेरी पगडंडी!

आलूचे के झरे फूल से आवृत धरती अँगड़ाई लेगी क्या वादी आज? नन्हे गुलदुम के हैं प्राण फुदकते सस्वर चीड़वनों में काँप रही आवाज़ कभी मोड़ती गति को सोते का जल पीकर आँखमिचौनी कभी खेलती है अवनी पर कितने को यह तड़पाएगी अजगर-सी टेढ़ी-मेढ़ी मेरी पगडंडी!

वनप्रस्थी पवन बड़े निर्दय होते हैं ले उड़ जाते सुधि के सूखे गजरे जलावर्त अनगिन गढ़कर आगे बढ़ जाते युगस्रष्टा-से ये जलवासी बजरे कभी सेब-से गालों पर केसर मल जाती कभी कंकड़ी लाकर आगे बिखरा जाती कितना आखिर भरमाएगी अजगर-सी टेढ़ी-मेढ़ी मेरी पगडंडी!
