भाँति-भाँति के इत्र बेचती गन्धी बनी आज अमराई ।
महुए के रस में घुलते सेमल के फाहे चुनते-चुनते भटक गए भोले चरवाहे । एक फूल रजनीगन्धा का साँझ-सकारे चैता की बहती स्वर- लहरी में अवगाहे ।
नयन-नयन में धँसती जाती तरुण कोपलों की अरुणाई ।
कुलदेवी की बाँह बँधे ‘सपता’ के डोरे बनजारे की बाट रोकते हरे टिकोरे । नाहक धूम मची विप्लव की गाँव-गाँव में वात्याचक्र जिधर उन्मद गज-सा मुँह मोड़े ।
छीन लिया सर्वस्व नीम ने देकर एक डाल बौराई।
झरते पत्तों से चिपकी वे रस की बातें लिखती रहीं जिन्हें गुपचुप पिछली बरसातें । कुसमय सुलग उठी उत्कण्ठा पुनर्मिलन की पानी मोल बिक गई ये चाँदी की रातें ।
दर्द उठा कुछ मीठा-मीठा बढ़ी उदासी की गहराई ।
सहलाते हौले-हौले पुरवा के झोंके पर्त उधेड़े यादों की कोयल बेमौक़े । बाग़-बग़ीचे बने सदावर्ती मदिरालय कौन कहाँ तक अपने प्यासे मन को रोके!
बार-बार नीले दर्पण में एक परी डूबी-उतराई ।
